WHAT MAKES MNHFS A GREAT CHOICE?
|
|
What makes my program so successful is multi-faceted. First, I always keep to a 1:4 ratio. This way I can be attentive to the individual athlete. Second, I try to educate my athletes about the logistics of their training; seasonal implications for training the metabolic, neurological, hormonal, muscle fiber and cardiovascular system, and the dietary needs to support these changes. This approach offers the athlete a better understanding for future training, either on their own or with a strength coach.
Additionally, I emphasize teaching the young adults that a sport is a psychological microcosm of life. I work on establishing a learning atmosphere that transcends sports. Teaching young men and women perspective allows athletes to relax and enjoy sports with much greater success. More importantly, it teaches them to have confidence in themselves; to tackle any challenge that life may throw their way.
Sportsmanship, appreciation, value, respect for themselves and other human beings; loving themselves for their individual uniqueness and leading by example are traits I measure and value as much as their physical gains. My athletes have continued to return to me for advice years after working with them, which is the greatest reward and compliment!
All programs are very good but fail to prepare an athlete for the highest intensity. My program doesn’t start with the highest of intensities, rather a foundation is laid to increase the horsepower. This way the results are more realized and the risk of injury decreases dramatically. See the chart provided. I don’t start at the top of the stairs; I work my athletes up to the top.
